Focus on Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel

One of the many ways Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel brings comfort to Jewish families during times of loss is the opportunity to tell their loved one’s story in an obituary – in as many words as they want.

“We always say you know your loved one better than we do,” says comptroller Sam Odom, adding that penning a heartfelt obituary is often therapeutic for families. “It can be a small step in regaining control.”

Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, on Lee Road in Orlando, is strong in reputation and industry knowledge. The funeral home was founded in 1984 by owner W.E. “Manny” Adams, within a tight-knit Jewish community.

“Rabbis like working with us. Families like working with us,” says Sam. “We accomplish their wishes.”

For example, Sam recalls a grieving husband who wanted to bury his wife close to home but couldn’t because of financial constraints. After learning the husband was an honorably discharged veteran, Sam explained that the man’s wife could be buried in a military cemetery for free.

“Many are not aware of that,” says Sam. “We ask questions.”

Just as it has for the past four decades, Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel will continue its mission of serving the Jewish community during the loss of loved ones.
